Description
The 40 meter USB3 cable converts the USB3 data signal into an optical signal. The optical signal is then transmitted over 40 meters of optical fiber cable and after that it is converted back to an electrical USB3 signal. The power is transmitted using copper wire. The 40 meter USB3 cable uses a maximum of 0.94W from the USB3 port to convert the electric signals into optical signals and back. Because the USB3 signals are transmitted using optical fiber cable, no EMI problems can occur. The cable is a 40 meter highflex cable and can therefore be used in robots and moving machines. This cable is also an ideal solution for high speed imaging with up to 40 meter of cable length. The connectors are USB-A male (to connect to PC) to Micro-B male (to connect to an industrial camera).
* We do not recommend using our 30m, 40m and 50m USB3 Active Highflex cables in combination with our ME2P and ME2S series cameras. This is due to high power consumption of this camera series. Read the “Which USB3 machine vision camera should I use” paragraph for more insight into the USB3 camera series.

Quality control of the 40 meter USB3 cable
The production quality control process of the 40 meter USB3 cable is built on several crucial steps. All cables are tested and approved by Daheng Imaging. To guarantee the quality of the long cables, the process starts in the raw material stage and continues until the cables are being shipped. If at any time throughout this process the 40 meter USB3 cable doesn’t comply to the given quality standards, it will then be classified as abnormal and rejected. Action will be taken to guarantee the quality of the batch and the procedure. Due to the nature of the quality control, we can offer a 1-year warranty that applies to all long USB3 cables.
Which USB3 machine vision camera should I use?
The 40 meter USB3 cable can be used in combination with a variety of USB3 machine vision cameras. We advise you to choose one of our USB3 cameras of the MER2 series. Would you like to protect your USB3 machine vision camera against water, dust or dirt? We recommend you to use our waterproof aluminium camera housing. However, please be aware that this housing cannot be used in combination with the highflex cables, such as this 40 meter USB3 cable. We recommend you to use one of our standard USB3 cables. The 40 meter USB3 cable is an extra-long cable and equipped with a USB-A male connector on one end for a secure and standardized connection to the pc. On the other end, it features a Micro-B male connector that can integrate with a variety of machine vision cameras. Recently we purchased a camera with lens, and LED lights. We are not experienced with machine vision but the installation worked out fine. After installation on our laboratory we were surprised again of the high quality of the photos and the versatility of this system. (options in Galaxy viewer and integration in Python. Recently we had an issue with the software and the customer support was able to give us the relevant information to fix it within one day. The next time we need a camera we will not be looking to other suppliers but contact GeT Cameras immediately.

For a new product development there was a lot of price pressure. We needed a cheap camera. I called them and Caspar was providing great support. He even advised a cheaper camera than I had in mind. I was just surprised by the inhouse knowledge of get cameras about machine vision. Never expected this from a webshop. The image an built quality of the camera is also great. The camera feels and operates the same as our Basler cameras.

In the beginning I was sceptic because of the low prices, but support by email was great. They advise a lens and provided additional technical information. Unfortunately they don't offer a loan service, but I decided to try it. I had the cameras in house within 2 weeks and connection was easy. The SDK looks like the SDK from Basler so I felt directly comfortable with it. The camera and lens was a perfect match and now I'm able to read small DMC codes on large products with just a single camera.
