GigE Vision Camera
The Mercury GigE camera series is an industrial vision camera, with a GigE interface. GigE is the most common interface used for cameras in traditional machine vision applications. The camera is available with and without Power over Ethernet (PoE).
This model is interesting for you when your application complies with the following conditions:
- An industrial camera
- Maximum cable length of 100 meters
- Inexpensive and easy installation of cables
- Only one cable is required to connect the device (in case of PoE)
- Dimensions are: 29x29x29mm (without PoE), 29x29x38 mm (with PoE)
- Optional hardware triggering
If more details are required, the manual can be consulted.

Monochrome Camera
Monochrome cameras, also known as black and white (B/W) cameras have still a lot of potential in many applications. While the security market and mobile market tend to focus on color imaging, the industrial, ITS, medical and life science market often uses the benefits of monochrome cameras. Monochrome cameras are very sensitive, deliver sharp images and reduce data compared to color, making it ideal for image processing. Using the right color light source and filters for the camera, a monochrome camera plus light system can use the characteristics of the product to create high contrast and high resolution images.
Without PoE
For single application we always advice to buy a GigE camera with PoE. A PoE GigE camera is easier to connect so you can quickly acquire the first images, because only a single ethernet cable has to be connected to supply both power and data to the camera (when using a PoE ethernet switch or PoE inserter). However due to price difference, as soon as volume is expected, the standard GigE camera without PoE is a very interesting option. The power of the standard GigE camera is supplied by the I/O cable. The standard GigE camera is cheaper, it gets less warm and is more compacter because it requires less electronics. However, for a standard GigE camera you will always need an I/O cable.
